Sir Rob Fenwick’s love of New Zealand and his tireless work as a champion for the environment led him to Kiwis for kiwi. In March 2020 he sadly passed away, but his legacy and love for our national icon still lives on.

Sir Rob Fenwick KNZM was involved with Kiwis for kiwi for more than 11 years, 10 as chairman and one as patron. Under his leadership, Kiwis for kiwi secured funding for and launched our ground-breaking Saving the Kiwi strategy, which will contribute to reversing the decline of kiwi and growing the population.

Rob’s mana and reputation in both the business and environmental worlds has drawn many high-level supporters and partners who want to join the cause to fight for our national icon’s survival. Even after his death he continued his commitment to save the kiwi, with a legacy fund announced at his funeral which has raised more than $200,000 and continues to be actively contributed to. Among the projects that have already been supported via the legacy fund is our new kiwi crèche facility in Napier. Today, Rob’s wife Lady Jennie Fenwick continues his hard work and advocacy efforts and is a trustee on the Kiwis for kiwi board.
